Clowne Walking Group

Please read these notes before participating in any of the scheduled walks

Requirements

It is a requirement that all walkers register and sign the waiver of responsibility. The walks are over rough surfaces and some steep inclines, so suitable footwear like boots or strong walking shoes are essential. Walking poles can be of great assistance on the steep descents. Bring plenty of water and bring a packed lunch if required, although a lunch stop at a pub or cafe is normally included in the walk. You are also advised to bring a hat, waterproofs and your own first aid kit. Duration of the walks is approximately 3 hours and at least 5 miles. They will commence at 09.30 promptly unless otherwise notified. The Community Transport buses have contracts to fulfil and it is essential that they return to the depot at a set time.

Health Issues

You should not participate on a walk if you are not physically and medically able. Please inform your walk leader if you have any medical problems, so your ability to complete the walk can be assessed.

New Members

Your first walk will be a trial walk after which it may be decided that you are unsuitable for our standard of walking. Your abilities may be more suited to a Walking for Health group to start with. We can give you details of other local groups which may match your current ability.

Booking

Is not normally required

Remember, all walk leaders are volunteers and are unpaid. They are people who enjoy walking and invite you to join them. They request that you do not leave the group without notifying the leader or back marker. Please keep between the leader and back marker or you could be left behind. Actual walks may differ from those shown in the walk programme, but will start from the same location and be the same degree of difficulty. A walk may be cancelled if the weather conditions are deemed too adverse e.g. heavy rain or thunderstorm, excessive heat (30+ degrees at the start of the walk). Under normal circumstances the walk leader will always attend at the meeting point even if the walk is to be cancelled.

Dog Owners              Sorry no dogs allowed.

Children                     Sorry no children are allowed as this is an adult walking group only.
